Senior IT Project Manager
AINS is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Senior Project Manager to join the leadership team in support of the management of an exciting IT project providing application development services and business solutions for a Federal Government client.   The candidate will be responsible for supporting the leadership of a 50+ person team and will be accountable for the development and expansion of a large IT account within the Federal Government.  The work location is in Arlington, Virginia.
Position Description
  • Provide project leadership and technical oversight to ensure that all contract work products and deliverables are completed on-time, within budget, meet the objectives of the task orders and that risks and issues are identified, communicated, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide overall responsibility of the customer application portfolio to ensure that applications are maintained and enhanced according to customer requirements.
  • Manage and lead software release development leveraging Agile SDLC processes, tools and templates.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to effectively manage customer expectations for all application portfolio software releases.
  • Support team technical activities in the support of application operations and maintenance of complex systems, and support technical staff in the integration of solutions into COTS, GOTS, and custom software.
  • Prepare project plans and project schedules, manage project team assignments, track milestones, and ensure seamless integration with software release plans.
  • Assist technical leads and project managers with the development of resource allocation plans and detailed project schedules and ensure implementation of CMMI L3 project monitoring activities and associated controls.
  • Motivate staff and provide leadership and guidance to improve team performance and support long term career development of project team members.  Support staffing initiatives for recruiting and hiring.
  • Identify, communicate, and lead ongoing process improvements initiatives.
  • Provide support to the client Project Manager for ad-hoc business development activities.
  • Champion IT best practices for a progressive applications development and software engineering operations
Required Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years’ experience successfully managing large IT projects with a focus on applications design, development, operations, and maintenance.  
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplined teams in an Agile and cloud based environment. 
  • Strong customer management and leadership skills.
  • Extensive hands on experience tracking and managing project resources, tasks, milestones and deliverables using MS Project.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and ability to lead high-functioning teams.
  • Business development, capture management, and proposal writing experience for Federal Government contracts is a plus.
Other Desired Skills
  • Experience with progressive practices such as Agile frameworks, cloud delivery architectures, DevOps, Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD), Test Driven Development (TDD) and Automated Testing
  • Knowledge and experience with Federal Security Practices and Assessments
  • ITIL Foundation
Required Certifications:
  • PMP
  • Bachelor of Science degree (Computer Science preferred)
  • Masters of Business Administration or Masters of Science preferred
Security Clearance
  • US Citizenship required
  • Active DoD Interim Secret or full Secret Clearance required
